Many of you might already know Digg, Shakk.Us, which started off with the open source version (Pligg +) of the similar system, was initially works like Digg.
Digg model is work perfectly as it is; it is meant for technology news where each and every entry is only matters in that particular time. So the published items will never going to be pushed up to the front again regardless how many votes it received afterwards.
Shakk.Us Vs. Digg Model
Shakk.Us is started for a different purpose; its primary function is to aggregate entertainment media, which means timing is not critical here, hence a different mechanism is applied when consider what to be published, how entries are arranged and consider every votes equally important even after the entry is published.
Positive Vs. Negative Voting

With positive and negative voting, it is possible to bury an entry if the community thinks that is a spam post. Only when an entry receiving enough positive votes, it will be published, and every subsequent vote it receive later, will pushed it up to the top. (As long as members continue voting for it, it stays on top). This continues up to one month since the date it was published, and it will be moved to archive (ToDo ^^).
Publish Vs. Discard

Found out it is spam after you’ve voted? It is also possible to un-vote an entry, click on the voted arrow again, the previous vote will be deducted.
Current threshold for an entry be published is 1 vote only during this promotion period, after that will be adjust according to our member base. Threshold for an item be discarded is -10 (10 negative votes).
Moderator Vs. Community

Shakk.Us is fully community controlled, so we can assure you that we will never put sticky post to gain site popularity, censor member’s submission or comments (the community will decide what’s for them and what’s not, there is no moderator here.).
As our community is rather small right now, please allow our own massive submission for the moment until our member’s submission gets stable. Please take this opportunity to invite your friends to join and grow with this wonderful community now.
