Another fork

It was such a long transition period I’ve ever experience past 3 months. Things were almost settled down here. I’ve totally lost in the latest pligg development, and great news is Pligg Beta 8 is out with lot of features we the pligg site owner long waited for.

Picking up the mood in continueing what’ve been left out, I decided to check some old log to analyze where should I steer shakk.us to, apparently there is some regular hit refered from site named supergu.

Apparently SuperGu is started by an ex pligg user who had put high expectation on it and actively commented in their forum.

SuperGu is another translated fork from the famous Open Source social submit-vote-link (or digg-clone ). The software promised features that combine the benefits of del.icio.us, digg, and reddit. Features that I come into my preference is the websnapr, which adds a lot of colors into the default boring plain-text looking site (except for the Video voting site and include shakk.us).

Creating Digg Clone Using Drupal

It is generally unfair to label websites having voting facilities as 'digg clone' since we don't label every phpBB site as vBulletin or InvisionBB or [insert a proprietary forum] clone just because they provide the same functionality.

Ok, enough for the rambling. Shakk.Us was built around the famous open source package 'pligg' which provides user submission/voting functionality, but it is also possible to create a digg-a-like site using the famous open-source content management system (CMS) – drupal 4.7.

Vote up/down is a drupal 4.7 module that provides functionality and user interface resembles digg or pligg.

 

A demo site is available here in Swedish. Vote up and down is there without ability to un-vote. You can login with your existing drupal account.

Itzle: The Coolest Web2.0 Social Networking I’ve Ever seen

This is perhaps the coolest ever web2.0 social networking application I've ever seen – Itzle.com.
